what we see

A green coloured chameleon is lying on a rock enjoying the heat .
Along  comes a dog. The chemeleon asks the dog if he wants to see something fantastic and the dog agrees. In an instant the chemeleon turns red and waits for the applause. The dog continues to stare at the chemeleon for some more time and then asks “ what? “
All the time, miracles are happening but we are not aware of any of it. We spend thousands of rupees to go and see a spectacular sunset or the latest building in Dubai. Do we stop to watch a spider weaving its web? A child trying to stand up. 3 or 4 condiments miraculously being transformed into a delectable dish? If only you stop to think, the very fact that you are alive is a miracles. The chance of a human being been born and surviving is astronomically high. Areyou aware what a miracle it is that you are reading this ?
While pysical

Difficult goals.

Why do people want to run marathons before learning to walk. Are we subconsciously setting up impossible goals  so that we don’t have to really exert ourselves. If you set up achievable Goals then you have to start working on them. However if you set up fantastic goals you can keep dreaming about them and will not have to do anything about it.

Before starting any  endeavour you will need to have some basic resources .Even something like reading a book. If the purpose is to study , as opposed to reading for passing the time or entertainment you need to know the language , the semantics, the idioms etc.  only then can you understand what the author is trying to convey which in turn will help you use it in your life. It is all the more important when you stray into esotoric stuff and metaphysics. There it is not just a matter of not understanding but the danger of wrong understanding.
There can be no growth within the comfort zone. For , true growth needs change.A change whether  it is a thought or a habit , is scary . we are moving into uncharted territory.A ship is safe in the harbour but that is not what it was designed for. To acheive anything worthwhile we have to venture forth, accept that this may entail encountering unknown  obstacles but still go forward. In the very going ahead inspite  of the fear subtle changes start happening and freedom from the existing baggage is the result.

Master Yoshi's teachers.

When Master Yoshi was asked about his teacher , he replied that  he had several teachers. According to him, if you are alert you can learn from any experience. All you need is to have a Beginners Mind.

In making cottage cheese, you have to add something acidic to boiling milk. On the other hand , if you add some old curds to warm milk, you get beautiful Dhahi after some hours. In the first case the results are immediate but we end up with gritty uneven and tasteless milk solids. The curds on the other hand is soft , smooth and delicious.
A beginners mind is one which is empty and does not have any preconceived notions about right and wrong or should and should not. All experiences are just that. What one perceives is subjective and what learns depends on his or her receptivity.
An ordinary mind bent on instant gratification often ends only in pain. Many a time judgements are marred by feelings and decisions made in haste are repented in leisure. When the mind is filled with rage ,hate or love eschew any decisions. They are bound to be wrong. They will not take you towards your goal.
When you are at peace your mind is cool and calm . You are able to analyse the problem objectively. You stay apart from the problem . Shifting your paradigm to one of proactivity, you can weigh the alternatives and choose the course that is right not just good for you. A solution that is good for you may not be good for the other party.A right decision is one that is good for youbut at the same time does not harm anyone else..
